Human and vehicular movements were on Tuesday paralyzed for several hours at the governor’s office, Alagbaka Akure as some residents of Odigbo Local government protested the alleged imposition of a non indigene as caretaker chairman of the council area.
The protesters who blocked Governor’s office gate displayed placards with inscriptions, “no Justice, no peace, we say no to imposition in Odigbo Local government” among others.
Speaking on behalf of the protesters, two of them, Comrade Jimmy Akinyan and Dayo Ikueduranni alleged that Mrs Eucharia Nwamara from Imo state was being imposed on the residents as caretaker Chairman.
The protesters demanded that the Mrs Uwamara should steer clear of the number one seat in the council.
Appreciating the people for the peaceful protest, ondo state acting governor Lucky Ayedatiwa pleaded that unsubstantiated perceptions and rumours should be disallowed to disrupt the peaceful coexistence of the town.
Mr Aiyedatiwa who said government had taken note of their grievances but advised them to talk to government through their party leaders.
