… Monarch begs Ondo Govt, NDDC OSOPADEC, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Ojogo, others for urgent Intervention
Thousands of motorists and residents of Atijere town in Ilaje local government area of Ondo state have been cutoff from the resting of the world as heavy rainfall has washed away the only bridge linking the community with Ondo State through Ogun state.
When our Correspondents visited the area, it was observed that nobody or vehicle can leave or enter the town since the flood wrecked havoc in the area at the weekend.
Some of the residents who spoke with newsmen appealed to government to urgently come to their aid as their socia-economic activities had been paralysed by the incident.
Speaking on behalf of his people, the traditional ruler of the town, Molokun of Atijere, Oba Samuel Adeoye pleaded with the Ondo State government, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as well as the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) to urgently rescue the residents.
“This is the only road linking my community and it’s from Ogun state axis. We don’t have any road yet connecting us to Ondo state. We appeal to the Ondo State government, OSOPADEC and NDDC to rescue us. Our people are suffering already over the collapsed bridge.”
Oba Adeoye called for the reconstruction of the bridge while temporary means of movement in and out of the town should be urgently provided by the authorities.
The monarch also appealed to representatives of Ilaje, Ilaje/Ese-odo federal constituency, Hon Donald Ojogo as well as Senator Jimoh Ibrahim from Ondo South to intervene on behalf of the people, as failure to intervene immediately could lead to food and other economic crises for the residents.
