Mr Adeniyi Oluyide, the principal of St. Michael Catholic secondary school, Akure, Ondo state, whose video recently went viral on social media for putting on the school uniform has been recognized by the Ondo state government with an award of excellence for his exemplary service towards improving the education sector.
In the trending video, the principal is seeing in the school uniform with school bag, entering the school while the students who are overwhelmed with joy, are hailing him.
Mr Oluyide received the award at the 2023 Public Service Week grand finale held at the International Culture and Event Centre, Akure, the state capital.
Presenting the Award on Thursday, the state Head of Service, Mr Kayode Ogundele, commended his ingenuity in identifying with his students and instilling discipline in them.
Speaking with Roving Reporters, Mr Oluyide expressed Joy for the recognition by the state government.
He however expressed surprise that what he did out if being professional on his job could go viral across the world.
Oluyide said, “During the walk-In Ceremony, that is the orientation for the newly admitted students, I put on the school uniform to identify with the new students in order to give them the creativity and make them see the way they should be dressing.
“They so much loved it and were full of joy and surprisingly the video went viral.
“The lesson I am passing to the students is hard work. Basically, there was a time that I was like them. Through the process of hard work, I became the principal of a school. If they emulate me, they are going to move to the greater levels in their life…
“I am not a social media person and I was a little bit embarrassed when the video went viral at the initial stage. It was later people started calling me, even from Canada, United kingdom and Australia, then I said wow!
“The only thing I got from it was that the video projected my school, so people, now many people know my school and they know the school for excellence and being discplined.”
