Akeredolu’s Absence: Group suspends 3-day Ultimatum issued to Ondo Speaker

by Roving

The Ondo Liberation Initiative, O.L.I, has suspended a three – day ultimatum issued to the speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji over the continued absence of governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in Ondo state.

The group had on Wednesday petitioned the Speaker, asking him to declare Akeredolu’s Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the acting governor should Akeredolu fail to return to the state within the stipulated ultimatum.

But a statement by the group’s spokesman, Eng. Johnson Alabi on Friday says “The general public is aware that the Ondo Liberation Initiative, O.L.I has issued a three (3) -day ultimatum to the speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly and circulated in the media, on the 7th of November, 2023 and was to lapse on the 10th November, 2023.

“All attempts to get the letter officially submitted to the Office of the Speaker proved abortive because of the ongoing strike by the parliamentary staff across the 36 states of the federation and which has hindered legislative activities for the last over one (1) week.

“Based on this fact we have had to send this letter to his email and WhatsApp.

“Consequently, the Speaker has magnanimously after reading the letter, put a call through to me to advise that it will be better to have the letter physically submitted to enable him and his members to treat it officially.

“We at O. L. I have thought about this and decided to put the ultimatum ‘on hold’ pending the resumption of the parliamentary staff which is not peculiar to Ondo State alone.

“We regret any Incoveniences this may have caused anyone. Long live, Ondo State.”
