The All Progressive Congress (APC) Elders Committee in Ondo East have disassociated themselves from the actions of the House of Assembly Member representing the Constituency, and Speaker, Olamide Oladiji, on the move towards impeaching the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
A statement signed by the Secretary of the Committee, Otunba Agboola Kelly and other Elders of the Committee, stated that since assumption of the Speaker into the House, his sole preoccupation has been the removal of the duly elected Deputy Governor.
According to the group there is a need to clear the bad name which the Speaker’s action has given to Ondo Ekimogun indigenes both home and abroad hence the letter to the National Leadership of APC.
The statement added that, Ondo Ekimogun has produced nationally recognized and internationally acknowledged icons in various fields saying Ekimogun people are not found in the habit of disrespecting Constituted Authority as the Speaker behavior is an embarrassment to the local government.
The Elders condemned the second letter the Speaker wrote to the Chief Judge of Ondo State on the composition of Judicial Panel to investigate the Deputy Governor, noting that his action is an aberration and total disrespect and disobedience to the National leadership of APC.
They noted that having agreed with the resolution of peaceful disposition with the National Party Leadership in Abuja, the Speaker flouted the agreement by writing to the Chief Judge, a decision that didn’t went down well with the Majority of the Members, thereby opted out of the self propelled impeachment saga.
The Elders commended Hon Biola Oladapo, member representing Ondo West 2 for aligning with the Integrity Group of the House who believe in rules of law and respect the decision of the National Leadership of the party.
“To confirm the real traits of a true son of Ondo Kingdom, Hon Biola Oladapo, Member House of Assembly of Ondo West Constituency 2 was one of the House Members, now Christened , The Integrity Group”.
The Elders reaffirmed their believe in the National leadership of APC, saying they stand by the peaceful resolution reached in Abuja as a loyal party elders.
