Akogun Olugbenga Omole, a former lawmaker in the Ondo state house of assembly has alleged that the politicians that attended President Bola Tinubu’s intervention meeting do not have the interest of the state at hearts, but for their selfish interests.
Omole also alleged that most of the political office holders at the meeting with the president have started defying the agreements reached at the meeting just three days after the meeting.
President Tinubu in his bid to restore political stability in Ondo State last Friday, waded into the months-long crisis between factions loyal to the Executive Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Tinubu advised all opposing parties to bury the hatchet and embrace peace, eliciting commitments to this effect.

Reacting on a TVC programme on Monday as monitored by Roving Reporters, Akogun Omole said those at the meeting went there for selfish interest and not because of the interest of Ondo state.
He said, “Section 193, Sub section 2 of the Nigerian constitution states clearly that the governor must have regular meetings with the deputy and the commissioners. This is not happening in Ondo state for a very long time.
“Governance is suffering and most of the politicians that attended Friday meeting, when you read the outcome of that meeting, it was about me, myself and I. Nobody spoke about Ondo state. I want to retain my position as the chairman of the party, I want to retain my position as the speaker of the house of assembly are all they were saying.”
He also alerted that some individuals within the government were planning to inaugurate LCDA administrators.
“As am telling you now, the cabals, the so called cabals are working contrary to the agreement with the president. I can tell you that the deputy governor is not aware of what is going to happen in the house of assembly today.
“It is the chairman of the party and some if this cabal that … They know from what happened in Abuja that the deputy governor has been empowered in the acting capacity. Nobody has to mention that ‘acting capacity’. They know and that is why they are rushing now to impose their stooges in the LCDAs in the state.
“The question is, who wrote the house of assembly and when ? There are insinuation that they have forged signature of the governor all over the place.

“Why did they wait till this morning to now want to go and confirm appointment of administrators at the LCDAs ? That’s the question.
This is contrary to the agreement in Abuja, so we can see those who are running contrary to that agreement with the president.
“I expected that the deputy governor should call an Exco meeting before anything is done. That is how it should be. They are not waiting for that. They are still hiding in the pretence that the governor said this and that. That is how Ondo state has been run since September when the governor came from abroad and they want to continue this morning.”
