We are sons and daughters of Ijare Community, under the auspices of Ijare Regenerative Front (IRF), and we are worried by the antics of desperate individuals that seek to assault the sensibilities of Ijare sons and daughters, as well as the unwary members of the public with wrong narratives and falsehoods in relation to the selection of a new Olujare of Ijare.
Even though notable sons and daughters of Ijare, who are not part of the conspiracies to tear the Sejeokun Ruling House apart, are lamenting silently the boisterous preponderance of certain individuals within the Sejeokun Ruling House, we have decided to take the initiative to speak out, in order to be on the positive side of history. We, therefore, which to state as follows:
- That matters relating to the selection of a new Olujare are pending before an Akure High Court, with the Government ofOndo State instructing that all matters relating to the selection of a new king be put on hold pending the determination ofmatters before the competent court (see letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs). One would wonder why some individuals are resulting to self help and public verbal masturbations.
- That the process of conducting Ifa Oracle to restart the new process of selecting a new king, as directed by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, after due interventions and amicable settlement, was aborted by elements within and outside the Sejeokun Ruling House who wanted their notions to prevail, as against the guiding principles enshrined in the government declaration for selecting a new Olujare.
- That High Chief Wemimo Olaniran, the Sapetu of Ijare, bent over backward to accommodate the resolutions reached with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for the sake of peace, even when known traditional transgressions were probable (see a copy of the resolutions reached with the interventions of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs).
- That the decision of the Olukekere/Okobitilaya/Aarinmo stock of Sejeokun Ruling House to go to court was to challenge the desperate attempt by some individuals and interlopers to illegally exclude their candidate, Prince Kola Oyewole, from the selection process; illegally suspend Chief Oluwole Oni as the Aarinmo and deny the stock aspiration to the Olujare stool.
- That the list of 13 candidates sent to the Afobajes by the selection committee of the Ruling House was the one being processed by the kingmakers, until the reactionary forces within the Ruling House, backed by certain individuals from outside, threw spanner into the works of the selection process, and purportedly illegally generated a list of four other candidates, after they claimed to have redundantly suspended the Chairman of the selection committee, Chief Oluwole Oni, the Aarinmo, and head of the Ruling House (see the opinion of government in the resolutions reached with the interventions of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs).
- That the needless calls for the suspension of High Chief Sapetu is a reckless outburst by some people in Ijare who believe he is not malleable to their manipulations, and who they believe must be harassed, intimidated and maligned, or be sacrificed, to be able to achieve their selfish interests.
- That the insistence of High Chief Wemimo Olaniran, Sapetu of Ijare, on following traditional inscriptions fairly should earn him commendation and not condemnation. This is more so as the claims that Ifa divination is used for disqualifying candidates are intrusive and suggestive, being speculative attempts to arm-twist the kingmakers in order to surrender their traditional authorities and responsibilities to proxies.
- That we are alarmed by the unrepentant attacks of a few detractors on High Chief Sapetu, who has done noble in the area of security, stability in, and development, of Ijare. We are particularly awed that High Chief Sapetu, who staunchly supported Late Oba Adebamigbe Oluwagbemigun, Kokotiri II, and rescued him from the claws and attritions of the Ajetomobis, who swore to humiliate him, by accusing him of a criminal offence, is being given a bad name by some Omowas who are now united by conspiracy.
- That individuals within and outside the Sejeokun Ruling House that are provocatively peddling falsehoods about the link of the Okobitilayas to the ruling house on the social media should exercise restraints, as they are not only demeaning the reputation and filial connection among Omowas, but denigrating the history of Ijare Community.
- That the Okobitilayas should not be too civilised, and should respond to the lies being told to blur their link with the Sejeokun Ruling House by nay sayers, even though we are aware that is one of the matters for determination in the court.
- That Ijare indigenes, who desire the wellbeing of the community, should call these individuals peddling lies on social media to order, before they set our dear community on an undesirable sequence. In the interest of Ijare Community, we are committed to setting the records straight, for us to be positively judged by posterity.

Sunday Adelugba For and on behalf of Ijare Regenerative Front (IRF)
