A Member Ondo state house of assembly representing Ileoluji/Okeigbo constituency, Hon. Nelson Akinsuroju has congratulated Wura-Ola Adepoju on the confirmation of her appointment as substantive Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) by President Bola Tinubu.
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday confirmed Adepoju’s appointment, development which was disclosed by the NIS boss while addressing the staff of the service, adding that the date for decoration would soon be announced.
As the most senior Deputy Comptroller General (DCG), Ms Adepoju was appointed the acting CG when the former acting CG, Isah Jere’s tenure expired on 29 May.
In a statement made available to Roving Reporters Online, Akinsuroju described the confirmation of Adepoju as a welcome development and the one that would bring a positive change to the service.
According to the lawmaker, Adepoju’s confirmation is a recognition of her dedication, loyalty to work.
Akinsuroju urged the new Comptroller to ensure synergy with the ministry of interior towards ensuring that the challenges faced by Nigerians before being issued Passports became things of the past.
The lawmaker also advised Adepoju to fight all forms of corruption within the service and should not hesitate to sanction any erring officers so as to serve as deterrent to others.
He commended the new Comptroller General for the innovation of getting dedicated service points to help Nigerians with expired passports, the development, according to Akinsuroju, would make the process faster and hitch free.
