Following the approval from Guinness World Records, a graduate of the Ekiti State University, Ado-ekiti, Emmanuel Okikiola has decided to break the record as he attempts the longest singing marathon record of 150 hours.

Okikiola, 22 years old, is set to break the record of Sunil Waghmare of India who sang for 105 hours.

Sunil Waghmare achieved the feat in Nagpur from 3 to 7 March 2012, featuring a diverse selection of popular Indian songs with no repetition within a four-hour period.

However, Okikiola is attempting to set aside the record of Waghmare with a 150-hour singing marathon.

In a statement released to newsmen in Akure, the Osun state born Microbiology graduate said the event would commence in Akure, the ondo state capital on Tuesday, 12th December, 2023.

According to Okikiola, the venue for the Sing-a-thon is Mountain Of Deliverance Prayer Ministry AKA Seganmidogo, at Honeymoon Junction, Beside Bolafoluwa School, Ondo Road, Akure.

Time is 9 O’clock in the morning.

According to him, Nollywood Actress, Toyin Adegbola and gospel musician, Abel Praise will also be at the venue, while there is provision of free food and drinks for participants.

Speaking further, Okikiola said, “As a musician, I want to show the world how important music is to the society and create a way of showing my talent to the world.

I want to break a new record apart from cooking, because singing is what I love doing the most.”
