Sunshine Advancement Ambassadors (SAA) a socio-political group has commiserated with the family of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the people of Ondo State over the sudden death of the governor.
This was contained in a condolence message signed by the Chairman of the group, Hon Olaniyi Ogungbuji, and made available to newsmen in Akure, Ondo State capital on Thursday.
SAA extolled virtues of the late governor, describing him as a blunt personality who ran the affairs of the state without deceit.
The group noted that his doggedness in his desire to rescue and provide security for the people of the South-West region when they were threatened by invasion of bandits remained indelible in the hearts of the people.
According to SAA, the relative peace being enjoyed in South-West is the making of the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu through the creation of South-West Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps.
It lamented that the accomplished lawyer cum politician left too soon at 67 when he was need most.
The statement reads inter alia: “It is so sad Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has departed when he’s needed most in our state and Nigeria at large.
“He will be remembered for his great achievements as the governor of our dear state. He started and completed a lot of capital projects that have changed the social life of our people.
“He made great efforts in ensuring the state move from a civil service state to an industrialised one.
“The overhead bridge he constructed at Ore has brought to a stop the incessant evitable carnage at the junction.
“The people of South-West region would not forget in a hurry how Akeredolu put his foot down in the face of massive criticism and established Amotekun Corps to protect them from criminals that invaded the region, killing and maiming the people then
“He was an accomplished lawyer and he attained the peak of his career as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN) and a successful politician as the governor of Ondo State for two terms.
He was the Chairman, South-West Governors’ Forum.
“I commiserate with his immediate family, the people of Owo Kingdom, people of Ondo State, South-West and Nigeria as a whole.
“We will seriously miss him.
“However, we advise Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to take a cue from Akeredolu and put in his best to better the welfare of the people of the state.
“He should avoid witch-hunt of his assumed enemies during the political tussle that shoot the state to the foundation.”
