Following the death of former Ondo state governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Young Progressives Party, YPP, the state chapter has called on the new governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to waste no time in ensuring good governance for the benefits of the people.

In a statement made available to Newsmen in Akure on Friday , the party’s state secretary, Henry Olonimoyo said, “We wish to remind him( Aiyedatiwa ) that he has little or no time to mourn or celebrate the events of this week as the fate of over 3million Ondo State people hang in the balance.

“He must galvanize a cabinet that can interface with the people again, correct areas of government neglect and salvage what is left of the promises made by this administration 3 years ago.

“We also wish to state that the very serious allegations of corruption and forgery levelled against some elements of this administration must not be swept under the carpet, as security agencies must be allowed to investigate and make culpable persons face the full wrath of the law.

“Notwithstanding the avoidable political wrangling that has plagued Ondo state and has adversely affected governance and accountability, we are glad the dark episode is over and for the first time in the history of Ondo State, a transition is taking place in within an administration reminding again that life and power are transient and must be deployed cautiously and with the fear of God.

“We congratulate the new governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

“The Young Progressives Party will also not relent at ensuring this administration remains accountable to the good people of Ondo State.”

The party however extended its deepest condolences to the grieving family of former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Ondo State Government, and the people of the State.

YPP said, “The 27th day of December, 2023 will forever remain in the annals of Ondo State history as the first time a sitting governor gave up the ghost. Our fearless leader, Arakunrin Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu who answered the final call after a protracted illness.

“It is indeed a great loss to Ondo State, the legal profession and the national politics of our great nation.

“We will remember him for his uncommon bluntness on issues of national discourse without sentiments.

“We will not forget the leading and courageous role he played when he ensured the Amotekun Security Network will see the light of the day to stop the rampage of killer herdsmen even at great risk to his political career.

“We extend our condolences to his family, immediate and extended as well as to the good people of Ondo State.
