The Olowa and Paramount Ruler of Igbara-Oke kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, OFR, has charged the Yoruba Community in Kano State to be more united, proactive and be committed to the course of national development. He said this during a town hall meeting with the Yoruba community in Kano.
Oba Agbede, who was in the ancient city of Kano on a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kano, His Highness, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and the turban ceremony of Alhaji Abdulateef Emiabata, the newly installed Chief Imam of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Kano State Branch
The monarch reiterated his commitment towards the unity of the Yoruba Community and the nation at large, which he believes would help build a viable and peaceful atmosphere.
He called on them to continue giving support to the Sar’kin Yorubawa in Kano, and every person in the position of authority. He said Yoruba is rich in cultural heritage and the virtue of “Omoluabi” is the identity.
In his message, the Sar’kin Yorubawa, Kano, His Royal Highness, Oba Dr. Muritala Alimi Otisese expressed his appreciation to Olowa and Paramount Ruler of Igbara-Oke kingdom and his entourage for the visit and special moment given to the Yoruba Community in Kano. He said the people are well pleased to have one of the prominent and First Class traditional rulers in Nigeria, in their midst.
Oba Muritala said, the Yoruba Community in Kano has in no small ways contributed towards the economic integration and growth of Kano. “Yorubas are peace loving people and law abiding residents in Kano, and at no time have we reason to have sleepless nights on anyone”, says Oba Muritala.
While commending on the position of Olowa and Paramount Ruler of Igbara-Oke among the comity of Obas in Yoruba land, he appealed to the people for more support and participation towards seeing that the descendants of Oduduwa are united wherever they are.
Oba Agbede who had earlier visited the Palace of the Emir of Kano was accompanied by Sar’kin Yorubawa, Kano, Oba Muritala Alimi Otisese, Osomo of Igbara-Oke, High Chief Sadiq Adeniyi, Vice Chairman, Igbara-Oke Development Council, IDC, Engr. Abiodun Ogunsakin and members of the Yoruba Community in Kano State.
