Ranking Member House of Representatives, representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency has overseen the distribution of the Federal Government approved palliatives to members of his constituency.
It will be recalled last year that through the leadership of the National Assembly, foodstuff palliatives was approved to Members of the House through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security but due to logistics issue, the arrival of the foodstuff through the approved contractor became belated.
In an exercise that spanned for days, Hon. Makinde has now overseen the sharing process to ensure that the palliatives gets to his constituents through engagement of stakeholders, recognized groups, youth associations and even delivery to doorsteps of constituents in selected areas.
Hon. Makinde while giving remarks said ” As a member of the House of Representatives, I’d like to express my gratitude for the food palliatives provided by the Federal Government to our constituents. These palliatives is going to be crucial in alleviating the hardship faced by many during these challenging times.
However, it’s important to ensure that the distribution process is transparent and equitable to reach those most in need effectively and that is why I have personally overseen the process so that majority of our constituents can be direct beneficiaries.”
“As lawmakers, we must also continue to work towards sustainable solutions to address food insecurity in the long term and provide soothing relief to mitigate the harsh effects of the overlapping reforms being currently implemented by the Federal Government. I will continue to bring to my people what is rightfully theirs and what I have been able to attract to them”
