A former Commissioner for Special Duties during the administration of the former governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, Femi Adekanmbi, has described as untrue and misleading, the claim by a former Ondo State Special Adviser on Information Communication Technology, Engineer Tunji Ariyomo on facilitation of $57million water project in ondo state.
Ariyomo had in a statement on Wednesday said the contract for the project was secured by him and his team during the first term of late governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Reacting, Adekanmbi in a statement personally signed by him on thursday however described Ariyomo’s claim as false, misleading and unfounded.
He said the project was secured by the Mimiko’s government through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and French Development Agency , AFDB .
Adekanmbi said the state government during the administration of Mimiko approached the French Development Agency , AFDB under the 3rd National Urban Water Supply Sector Reform project , NUWSSRP for financial aid under the supervision of Federal Ministry of Water Resources towards the completion of the project.
Document shows that the Mimiko’s government asked for a review of the project from $50m to $57m while the sum of $5 million dollars was paid to the state shortly after Mimiko left office.
“This is to inform the residents of Ondo State that Ariyomo’s claim on the project is false, misleading and unfounded. The project was secured by the Mimiko- led government through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and French Development Agency , AFDB .

“The state government during the administration of Gov Mimiko approached Engr. Benson Ajisegiri who was then the Director of water supply at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, initiated and influenced the $57m AFDB and $124m World Bank to the state. He deserves commendation.
