More Women will be appointed to Ondo Cabinet – D’gov

by Roving

Women of different social categories in Ondo state have been assured of support and fair representation in the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to enable them contribute to the development of the state.

Olayide Adelami, deputy governor of Ondo state, made this declaration while receiving the Traditional Market Women Association, Association of Commodity Market Men and Women and APC Women for Change, in Akure, recently.

The 3 women’s groups came to pledge their allegiance to Aiyedatiwa, who has declared an interest to return as governor of Ondo state in the November 2024 election.

Addressing the women, the deputy governor thanked them for finding Aiyedatiwa worthy of their support and endorsement.

He charged them to be wary of people of questionable character who are parading themselves as good leaders to deceive Ondo state people during this year’s election.

Adelami assured them of state government’s support and empowerment in different areas. He said the governor has started well by appointing some women to his cabinet.

“It is obvious the governor regards Ondo state women as a great asset that must be treasured and given vital roles to play at the highest level of decision making in government. We can see that women are well represented in the first batch of cabinet appointments the governor made and he will surely do more” the deputy governor reaffirmed.

Aiyedatiwa had appointed women as cabinet-rank special advisers and commissioner in his first batch of appointments of the state executive council members. This is in addition to the appointment of women as Special Assistants and immediate aides of the governor.

Earlier, leaders of the women’s groups took turn to pledge their loyalty to Governor Aiyedatiwa as they made more demands, which the deputy governor promised to convey to the governor for action.

The Aare Iyalaje/Iyaloja of Ondo state, Chief Kemi Adedapo Aisida led the Traditional Market Women Association while the Association of Commodity Market Men and Women, Ondo State Chapter, was led by its president Evangelist Olabisi Ojo Babatunde and Princess Folakemi Ogunshile coordinated Ondo state APC Women for Change.
