Ondo mourns Founding Father, Prince Olutoba Adeyemi

by Roving

The government and the people of Ondo State, has expressed sadness over the death of one of its founding father of the state, Prince (Hon) Olutoba Adeyemi.

This is a great loss, for the state government and the people of the state, but we cannot question God for calling him at this time.

Papa was a retired school principal and educationist par excellence. He was a father in the true sense of the word. We cannot write Ondo State story without recourse to the roles that he played from the start and from the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate the roles that he played in building Ondo State to what it is today.

Prince Olutoba Adeyemi was the seventh signatory in the Ondo Provincial Movement’s memorandum that pushed for the creation of Ondo State in 1976.

Late Adeyemi was a member of the House of Representatives in the Second Republic. He served as Commissioner for Education under the Bamidele Olumilua administration and as Chairman, State Primary Education Board (SPEB) under the Adebayo Adefarati administration.

While commiserating with the family of the late elder statesman, the state government urged them to uphold the ideals he stood for, saying that the nation will continue to draw inspiration from his life and times.

Prince Adeyemi has paid his dues and has left his footprints on the sands of time.

On behalf of the government and the good people of Ondo State, we express our heartfelt condolence to the family of Prince Adeyemi on this great and irreparable loss. He was a pride to our country, our state and we will surely miss him.
