Ondo 2024: Akintelure’s Death not Natural – Source

by Roving

More details have emerged on the sudden and misterious death of Dr Paul Akintelure, one of the leading APC aspirants ahead of the governorship election in Ondo state who died in Lagos on Tuesday.

Akintelure had raised an alarm over an alleged threat to his life ahead of the governorship election.

“Initially, I hope these incidents would dissipate over time, yet regrettably, they have escalated to pose a serious threat to my life,” Mr Akintelure said in a statement on Thursday.

Akintelure said he was compelled to voice out and address a matter of grave concern with a heavy heart concerning threats to his life.

He explained that with the recent ‘unsettling event’ in the state, there have been both direct and indirect attempts on his person.

Shortly after it was announced he died in Lagos, a source close to the deceased and preferred anonymity told Roving Reporters that the politician’s death was suspicious.

He said, “Others might be fooling their followers, but it was clear that the presidency is backing Dr Akintelure as the preferred candidate of the party.

“Even from the Police officers securing him, you would understand the body language. The policemen are not from Ondo state. They were deployed from the Police headquarters in Abuja.

“It has been established that the president prefers someone who is not involved in the recent political imbroglio in Ondo state and has been a loyal party member over the years.

“He has been having discomfort all over the body and when it was found out that it was a spiritual attack, he directed that the statement be released on threat to his life.

“By Saturday, his tongue had already twisted and could not speak very well again.

“When I got to Lagos, I found out that he was actually attacked spiritually. Unfortunately he had been injected which is against such attack.

“Now he is gone. They have succeeded in finishing him (weeps). They think killing him would shift attention to them. Ah !

“It is unfortunate that ondo politics has gotten to this stage. This has never happened in the state but now politicians are after one another to the extent of taking life. I am afraid.”

When asked if anyone is suspected, he declined further comments.
