Dr. Charles Marindoti Oludare, Convener of Social Rehabilitation Group has condoled with the family, friends, associates and the people of Ondo state on the sudden death of Dr. Paul Akintelure which occured in the early hours of Tuesday.

A statement signed and made available to newsmen in Akure on Wednesday, Dr Oludare said, “It is with a profound sense of loss and deep sorrow that we, at the Social Rehabilitation Group, extend our heartfelt condolences to the people of Ondo State, and the bereaved family and friends of Dr. Paul Akintelure, who departed from our midst on the 25th of March, 2024.

“ At the age of 61, Dr. Akintelure’s untimely demise resonates with a poignant narrative all too familiar to many Nigerians – the loss of loved ones in their prime, in their middle ages.

“The passing of Dr. Akintelure is a stark reminder of the transience of life and the pressing need to cherish every moment with those dear to us.

“However, it also brings to the forefront an issue of critical national importance – the state of our healthcare system. With the average life expectancy in Nigeria hovering around 55 years, it’s clear that a substantial portion of our populace departs much before their time, often due to preventable health issues.

“In remembering Dr. Akintelure, a beacon of light and hope to many, we are called to reflect on the broader implications of his passing. It serves as a clarion call to our esteemed politicians and policymakers to take decisive action towards restructuring our healthcare framework.

“The goal is unambiguous – to bring about a radical transformation that ensures efficiency in care delivery, eradicates bureaucratic obstacles, and fosters an environment where quality healthcare is not a privilege but a right for all Nigerians.

“The task ahead is formidable, yet not insurmountable. It demands a collective resolve and an unwavering commitment to overhaul the existing paradigms. By streamlining processes, embracing technological advancements, and prioritizing patient-centric care, we can pave the way for a future where improved health outcomes are the norm, not the exception.

“As we mourn the loss of Dr. Akintelure, let us also ignite a renewed sense of purpose and dedication towards achieving a healthcare system that stands as a pillar of strength, resilience, and hope. Let this be our commitment to Dr. Akintelure’s legacy – a promise to strive for a world where no life is cut short due to inadequacies in healthcare, and every Nigerian has the opportunity to lead a full, healthy life.

“In this moment of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Dr. Akintelure. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his life’s work inspire us to envision and create a healthier, more equitable future for all. Together, we can turn the tide. Together, we can heal a nation. ”
