One of the leading aspirants ahead of the APC primary in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke SAN has said that the political structure of former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will no longer determine who gets the APC ticket because it has been polarised since his demise.
Oke stated this while featuring on channels television politics today on Friday.
Answering questions on whether Akeredolu’s structure would be a determinant factor ahead of the April 20 primary election, Oke said, “Akeredolu’s structure is polarised.
“The frontline aspirants benefit from the polarisation including myself. It can only mean that that structure alone can not determine the success or failure of an aspirant.
“Everybody has benefited from it and it is unfortunate that he died. Of course we were not be going through all of this if Akeredolu were alive because he would be in charge but at is it, the central is no longer holding.
“Nobody can claim to be leader of the party or authority over the party as Akeredolu would have claimed if he were to be alive.”
Oke however promised to build on where Akeredolu stopped in the area of security and protection of farmlands for farmers to thrive.
“I want to acknowledge the major role of my brother and friend, Late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who had gone to answer the call of God Almighty. He did a lot in terms of security. But what is remaining which I intend to do is to extend it to protect the farmers on their farmlands.
“As far as I am concerned, the Amotekun has no role to play in town. I will build a barrack for them inside the farmlands so that they can give a sense of security to our people.
“Since the creation of the state in 1976, no government has made serious efforts to open up our resources in the forests.”
