The Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC) has described as another tissue of lies, an accusation by agents of a governorship aspirant, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, that the aspirant’s supporters were attacked in Owo, Ondo State, by those they suspected to be loyal to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the LACO-FSIC State Director of Information, Mr. Kayode Fasua, quoted the organisation’s Director-General for Owo Local Government area, Hon. (Dr.)Adeyemi Olayemi, as classifying the accusation as the next-in-turn lie from the pouch of the Akinterinwa camp, following public dismissal of their previous accusations.
In the latest accusation, the Owo Local Government Coordinator for Wale Akinterinwa Campaign Organisation, Mr. Fatai Olushina, alleged that the LACO-FSIC Owo D-G, Olayemi, led thugs to attack their members on Monday, ahead of Akinterinwa’s rally holding today ( Tuesday).
But in a swift response, Olayemi, popularly known as Koko, expressed shock at the accusation, noting, “I have been in Akure since Sunday and I’m still in Akure, and I wonder how somebody in Akure could disappear from Akure and instantly appear in Owo,to lead an attack”.
Olayemi, however, said he was consoled by the common knowledge that the Akinterinwa group had been known never to be in want of false allegations.
He also averred that Olushina, who levelled the allegation, was yet to wriggle himself out of accusations that he recently unleashed terror on political opponents in Owo, during which many houses were burned down and several people gravely injured.
Olayemi explained: “There is no iota of truth in Olushina’s claim, as I have been in Akure since Sunday and I’m still in Akure; and indeed, Olushina is still to wriggle himself out of accusations of breeding thugs in Owo.
“These thugs in question went to destroy the home of Dr Olayide Adelami (the present Deputy Governor) way back in 2020; proofs are there.
“These thugs believed to be under his supervision also recently went to destroy the house of Hon. Musa in Iyere-Owo and several other houses of people who do not align with him politically.
“He is widely believed to have been in charge of these touts for the past four years, breeding them.”
Information reaching us was that only last week, information filtered in that Olushina led leaders of these thugs to the Akinterinwa group and that as much as N20 million was released to him to distribute to them.
“But we heard that Olushina only gave them N2 million, saying that the rest of the money was meant for him to prepare for Akinterinwa’s visit to Owo.
“This, we reliably gathered, sparked off row among the thugs who felt short-changed and they went after him, forcing him to flee Owo; and as a cover-up before his principal, he deviously lied that LACO supporters were after his life.
“Is LACO just operating in Owo and have many aspirants other than Governor Aiyedatiwa not been coming to Owo to campaign?
“Fatai Olushina and his people should take their problems to somewhere else, and never involve us,” Olayemi replied.
