Dr Habeeb Ibrahim, a returning officer for Ilaje local government has told the seven-man Primary Election Committee set up by the APC, to conduct the governorship primary election in Ondo state that a serving commissioner and one other person were kidnapped during the primary election on Saturday.
Ibrahim disclosed this when he was presenting his final report to the committee on Sunday at the central collation center held at the International culture and event center Akure the state capital.
Though the returning officer did not mention the name of the serving commissioner and the other victim, while presenting his report , Ibrahim said, “Let me start by sighting an incident that occurred in the local government. When we went for the election there was an episode in one of the wards which is a riverine area called Ugbo 3 ward.
“One of the honorable commissioners of this serving government and one other person were kidnapped and hid inside the very remote area.
“It took the intervention of the director DSS in the local government naval officers and many other people and security agents in the local government before they were able to rescue the kidnapped commissioner.
“The report I am going to read is for the remaining wards but not in that ward because there was no election in that ward.
“When asked by the chairman of the committee, Governor Ododo if the case was reported to the police, he said he had made official report.”
Roving Reporters had reported that there was an attack on the health commissioner on Saturday during the primary election.
The Health commissioner, Banji Ajaka, was allegedly beaten to stupor by angry members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) at Ugbo Ward 3, Ilaje local government area for allegedly hiding result sheet.
