The Global Executive President of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure Alumni Association, Dr. Niyi Ijogun has applauded the 78/83 set of Oyemekun Grammar School for their steadfastness and commitment towards the development of their Alma mater. He said this when he addressed the gathering of the set during their 40th Anniversary in Akure.
Dr. Ijogun said the members of the set have been proactive towards various infrastructural developments in the school. He said the association and the school are indeed proud of their laudable achievements within the school, which includes renovation of the volleyball court, construction of toilets, two boreholes and sponsorship of weekend lessons for SS 3 students in preparation for WAEC and NECO exams.
He said the school has made them all and has produced notable Nigerians in different fields of endeavours who are doing the nation’s proud. According to him, the school’s culture, environment and discipline has remould many talents for effective service delivery in their chosen careers.
Ijogun in the same vein reiterated the achievements of the 10th Global Executive Council towards laying a good legacy that can be built upon. He said the association has also built synergy to further strengthen the relationship with the Parents Teachers Association, PTA, the Akure Community, the Anglican Communion and the School management.
While appreciating the founding fathers, who have set enviable standards for the school, he reassured the members the associations that the 10th Global Executive Council is committed towards taking OGSA to a new heights in all facets of academic endeavours.
Earlier, the Chairman of the 78/83 set, Pastor Babatunde Fowe in his remarks commended the Global Executive Council of the Alumni Association for lifting the standard beyond the normal. He said the school has been given a facelift, which has made the old boys proud. He also appreciated the Principal for this good administrative and leadership skills in driving the affairs of the school. He said the 78/83 set members are ready to come up with projects that will further promote the school.
In his words, the Principal, OGSA, Mr. David Ogunleye Okeowo expressed his appreciation towards the support he has been given by members of the OGSA Alumni Association. He said this has really helped the students academic performance, and in the areas of sporting activities. He said there is no gainsaying that Oyemekun remains the best.
Also, the Chairman of the Home Branch, Hon. Dr. Afe Olowookere said by the 10th Global Executive Council has in the last two years transformed the school beyond the imagination of many. According to him, what they never thought would happened in twenty years came to being in less than two years of this present 10th Global Executive Council. He therefore called on all for continued commitment and support towards the sustainance of the projects.
