… Come back home – Shettima Begs Edema
The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ondo State, Olugbenga Edema, on Thursday, encountered the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, at the Akure Airport.
Edema, who emerged as the standard-bearer of the NNPP ahead of the November 16 off-cycle election in the state after dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC), met with Shettima while en route to Abuja.
However, during the encounter, Shetima appealed to the NNPP gubernatorial candidate to return to APC which he called his home.
The Vice President arrived at the airport ahead of his visit to Ekiti State. The governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was also at the airport during the encounter.
Recall that Edema, who represented the state on the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), disclosed that the decision to quit the ruling APC was due to the lack of internal democracy in the party, which he described as robust in the NNPP fold.
The former Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (NDDC) had also vowed to unseat Aiyedatiwa at the polls.
