Months after the death of her husband and silence on some social media platforms, Betty, the wife of former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has again resurfaced as the Akoko Egalitarian on Thursday slammed her for her derogatory remarks about Chief Tolu Babaleye, an Ondo State born lawyer.
The lawyer represents the leaders of Akokoland, including Akoko Southeast, Akoko Southwest, Akoko Northwest and Akoko Northeast, in a court case against the state government regarding creation of LCDAs.
Mrs. Akeredolu’s disparaging “charge and bail” comment on a WhatsApp platform has sparked outrage, with Akoko Egalitarian labeling her an “irritant” who is “still festering from past political wounds.
The group’s chairman, Mr. Odunayo Sunday, fired back in a statement on Thursday in Akure, accusing Mrs. Akeredolu of “peddling petty insults” and “displaying her penchant for divisiveness.
In her own interest, she should stop the petty insults and stop playing politics of bitterness.
“She should focus on positively impacting the community, rather than spreading hate and divisiveness”, the statement concluded.
