Septuagenarian, Three Grandchildren Escape Death in Ondo Auto crash

Four persons including a Septuagenarian narrowly escaped death in Akure, the state capital as a lorry truck hit their vehicle to tumble towards the other lane.

Two of the passengers were however seriously injured in the accident which occurred over the weekend in front of St Louis Primary School along Ondo road in Akure.

Eyewitness told Roving Reporters that the lorry belonging to a popular cement block factory along Agagu road was trying to overtake to the fast lane towards Isikan market when the driver hit the vehicle conveying the septuagenarian and her three grandchildren.

The Old Woman

According to eyewitness it was the old woman that drove the Toyota RAV4 when the incident occurred as the lorry truck hit their vehicle making the old woman lose control before the car tumbled.

The driver of the lorry was said to have taken to his heels abandoning the truck on the main road, causing gridlock for some minutes.

It was also gathered that traders on roadside and some police officers around rescued the victims, pulling them out through the broken windscreen while those injured were rushed to nearby hospital.

When Roving Reporters got to the scene of the incident, policemen were removing the vehicle from the main road and towing it to the police station.
