- As Ifedore Local Govt APC Welcomes Gboye Adegbenro Into Party
- I have come to add value – Gboye Adegbenro
Ahead of the Governorship election in Ondo State, the All progressives congress, APC, in Ifedore local government has welcomed a former state commissioner for works and infrastructure, Gboye Adegbenro into the party.
Adegbenro, a seasoned engineer and a former deputy governorship candidate of the Zenith labour party in the 2020 governirship election, is one of the allies of former governor Olusegun Mimiko that recently defected to the APC.
In a ceremonious event, APC leaders and members converged on ilara mokin to welcome Adegbenro into the party.
Speaking, Ondo state commissioner for energy, Rasak Obe expressed his optimism that their arrival of Adegbenro would further strengthen the APC’s structure in Ifedore and Ondo state at large.
He encouraged Adegbenro and his followers to actively participate in the ongoing efforts to improve the lives of all citizens in Ondo State.
In a remark, Adegbenro said he left the PDP to add value to the APC towards transforming the state for better.
He urged Nigerians to be patient as the APC led federal government is working tirelessly to reposition the country for growth and prosperity.
Adegbenro said, “Party is a nomenclature, and whether PDP, APC or Liberal Party, they are all nomenclatures. And if you agree with me that politicians are moving from time to time depending on what they see.
Yes, things are not the way it’s supposed to be in the country at the moment. But if we are saying that because of that we need the right people, we need people that are focused, we need people that are talented to be involved in governance.
“ If you leave governance for people that you want them to do the way they want because what they are doing is not perfect at the moment, then that’s your own peril. But some of us that are professionals, there are some positions in Nigeria today that is just by virtue of political patronage.
“You can’t imagine putting a medical doctor in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and you want that ministry to move. Or you want to put a lawyer in the Ministry of Works and you want it to move. But if you put the right people in the right position, things will move good. And that is it.
“Even no matter the party, as long as you are not putting the right people in the right position, the country will not move forward.
“So I believe that the party, they understand what is going on. I’m very sure they will definitely work towards making the relevant people to be in charge of where they will be able to do what they are supposed to do. As I’ve said, put the right people in the right position. That is most important and no political patronage.
“We have inflation in America, we have in the UK. But the problem is the leadership. And if we are saying that we want to leave it, that we are not concerned, then the country will be in a chaos. But we need to bring in people to correct those things that have been misplaced. I believe that coming into APC, we are going to add value.
“We are going to also change the narrative to an extent. To join those that are there and let them also contribute and help the country. That is just how it is supposed to be.”
