Our attention has been drawn to recent reports claiming that “over 100 SDP members” have defected to the APC in Ondo State. We categorically refute these claims and view them as a desperate attempt by a faltering ruling party to create a false narrative.
The report, which lacks specific details such as names of prominent defectors or the exact location of the alleged event, can only be seen as a fabrication by those confronted with the reality of an imminent defeat in the upcoming Ondo gubernatorial polls.
While Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa reportedly welcomed supposed SDP defectors at an event in Ondo town, we challenge the APC to provide verifiable evidence of any significant exodus from our party. The vague reference to “hundreds” of defectors without naming a single individual of note speaks volumes about the credibility of these claims.
The APC’s recent fixation on the SDP is a clear indication of the growing popularity and acceptability of our party and our candidate, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA). This has evidently rattled the ruling party as they face the prospect of losing power.
We urge our members and teeming supporters to disregard these baseless reports. They are merely a figment of imagination, concocted as a diversionary tactic by those who sense their impending loss of power at the hands of the Ondo State electorate.
The SDP remains united, focused, and more determined than ever to secure victory at the Alagbaka Government House. Our support base continues to grow stronger daily, reaffirming our position as the party of choice for the people of Ondo State.
