Tragedy has struck in Akure, the Ondo State capital over the mysterious death of five members of one family after allegedly eating poisonous pap and fish.
According to a family source, a grandmother who is a caterer and four of her grandchildren died as a result of eating meal suspected to have been poisoned or contaminated, while two other grandchildren are still in hospital receiving treatment.
The incident which occurred few days ago at Atayese street, Gaga area of Oke Aro in Akure, was uncovered by SUNSHINETRUTH News on Thursday, 3rd October, 2024.
A neighbour who simply identified himself as Mr Emmanuel, who confirmed the sad incident, expressed concern that the police and government’s officials were yet to launch investigation into the incident.
“We were told that they took poisoned pap, but later we also heard that they ate from fishes in a pond in the house compound which were said to have been contaminated.”
When contacted on telephone, the Head of the family, simply Mr A. Egunjobi also confirmed the unfortunate incident.
Reacting, the Ondo State Command Spokesperson, Mrs Funmi Odunlami said the incident was not reported at any police station.
