Some residents made this known were ventilating their anger in a meeting with the lawmaker representing Akure South constituency Two in the house of Assembly, Abitogun Rotimi Stephen.
The lawmaker who was meeting with the residents over the weekend was queried on why the house of Assembly failed to perform its function over the state of environment in the state capital which could lead to outbreak of diseases.

They described as shameful that Akure had become the dirtiest state capital in the country.
The residents urged state government to prioritize cleanliness of the state capital to avoid the outbreak of disease among the people.
They specifically accused the two lawmakers representing Akure South of ineffective over the matter.
One of them said, “it is shameful because you have not performed their oversight functions accordingly.
“I have traveled to All the 36 state capitals and the worst of them is Akure.
“There many other towns and city that are not state capital but more neater than Akure.
“If the executive arm ignores issues of our health and environment, it is the responsibility of the lawmakers to put the pressure on them.”
Reacting, Abitogun who also expressed worries over the development said though government was being faced with some challenges, the matter would be addressed as soon as possible.
