Two reporters of The Hope, Ado Adeboye Philip and Afolabi Kayode Olumide, were honoured with meritorious awards by the Nigeria Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ), Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo Chapter.
The duo received the awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions, exemplary performance, and significant impact on the growth of the RUGIPO Press Council.
Both were former students of the Mass Communication Department at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
The awards were presented during the RUGIPO Press Council Week celebrations and handover ceremony, which featured a public lecture on the theme, “The Influence of Journalism Practices,” delivered by Mr. Sunday Afolayan and Mr. Adeola Adekoya.
In separate presentations, Dr. Henry Olu-Braimoh, Dean of Students Affairs at RUGIPO, praised Philip as a vibrant journalist committed to his craft. Similarly, the Head of News and Current Affairs at RUGIPO FM, Mr. Adeola Adekoya, lauded Olumide as a journalist par excellence, noting that the entire Mass Communication Department takes pride in their achievements.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Philip expressed gratitude to the organisers and emphasised that the recognition would inspire them to continue striving for excellence in their journalistic endeavours.
