A member of the House of Representatives representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in Ondo State, Donald Ojogo, on Wednesday described Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori, as a significant asset and addition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Niger Delta region.

Ibori-Suenu recently announced her defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.

Addressing Newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Ojogo commended Ibori-Suenu for her impactful contributions as a member of the 10th National Assembly, noting her influential role in advancing the cause of the Niger Delta.

“Currently serving as the Chairman of the House Committee on Niger Delta, Hon. Ibori-Suenu has been at the forefront of advocating for the development and growth of the Niger Delta region,” Ojogo stated.

He further highlighted her dedication, saying, “Her passion and commitment to the cause have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and constituents alike.”

Ojogo described her defection from the PDP as a significant boost to the APC’s prospects in the region, noting that her decision was reportedly influenced by feelings of marginalization within her former party.

“As a prominent politician and two-time member of the Delta State House of Assembly, where she served as Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Ibori-Suenu brings extensive experience and deep connections to the Niger Delta,” Ojogo remarked.

He emphasized her potential to enhance the APC’s influence, stating, “Her defection positions the APC to gain greater traction in the Niger Delta. Her leadership and strategic expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping the party’s fortunes in the area.”

Ojogo also underscored her unique background in business studies and information systems, adding that her ability to navigate complex issues and build consensus has made her a highly effective leader.

“As the Niger Delta region continues to face unique challenges and opportunities, Hon. Ibori-Suenu’s leadership and expertise will be crucial in shaping its future,” Ojogo noted.

He concluded by expressing confidence in her unwavering commitment to the region’s development, saying, “Her influence in the 10th National Assembly will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the Niger Delta and the APC.”
