Kola Ademujimi, the former Chief of Staff to former governor Olusegun Mimiko has explained why many political appointees bowed out of the administration with clean records devoid of corrupt practices.
Ademujimi was the chief of staff to Mimiko since inception till the end of that administration (2009-2017).
In his tribute to the former governor’s 70th birthday celebration, Ademujimi said Mimiko specifically instructed them not to steal public money while in public positions.
He said, “Dr Mimiko told me: “We must not steal any government money…”
“ I am thankful to God for the service-inclined life of this articulate, meticulous, intelligent, courageous, resourceful and highly productive friend of over four decades.
“To me, he is a professional colleague in the twin fields of service – medicine and politics; a great friend, boss and life captain of our political class (late 1980s to date).
“He’s always been a very kind- hearted fellow, humble, friendly and particularly, an impactful being.
“He remains the most celebrated Governor we ever had in Ondo State especially since the beginning of the 4th Republic in 1999 probably because of his welfarism-laden programmes and the special legacies he executed as a two-term governor of Ondo State.
“Dr. Mimiko is an epitome of integrity.
“He told me in March 2009, immediately after my inauguration as his Chief of Staff, that we must not steal any government money but that if we make our people happy, God will reward each of us accordingly in unique ways.
“We can proudly say we bowed out with clean records and preserved our respective family names from disrepute for the sake of our children.“
