Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has said that no efforts by anyone can change the frankness of Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife of the former Ondo state governor, Late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Anyanwu-Akeredolu has, over the years, been known for posting comments on her social media platforms which generate divergent reactions, one of which was the allegations levelled against the Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa on the just concluded memorial lecture held in honour of her husband.
Speaking at the one-year remembrance service in honour of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, held in Owo on Friday, Fayemi said, “Arabirin has already carved a niche for herself in the professional world, in the political world and she would always remind me, “Kayode, you know I am the first politician before your brother (late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu) became a politician.“
“You know her, she can be brutally frank. There’s very little we can all do about that, we can’t change her frankness.
“And sometimes, a lot of well-meaning people, they come to me and say, Governor Fayemi, can you do us a favour? Can you please talk to Her Excellency, Arabirin, I would say, it’s okay, I’ve heard. I wouldn’t even call her, because I know that is an exercise in futility.
“But in that frankness, you just have a beautiful soul who is sincere, who is loving, and who is understandably at pains with a lot she has experienced.
“And all of us should be able to empathize with that, rather than take her on for what we may consider to be foibles or frailties. So for me, it’s a period of celebration, it’s also a period of reflection.”
Speaking about the former governor, Fayemi said, “And we know that where Aketi is now, in the right hand of our Lord, he must be smiling.
“And you know that unique Aketi smile, it’s an uproarious smile, it’s not just a mild smile, it’s a celebratory one. And we thank God for a life of service, for a life of sacrifice, for a life of commitment to humanity.“
