The Ondo State Coordinator for Tricycle (Keke Maruwa), Timileyin John Ogaga a.k.a Gaga, has called on members of the association to demonstrate their civic responsibility by voting en masse for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Saturday, tomorrow’s local government elections.
The polls, slated to take place across the 18 local government areas of the state, have been described as critical to ensuring continuity in grassroots development.
Speaking during an interactive session with tricycle operators in Akure, Mr. Ogaga underscored the importance of active participation in the democratic process.
He urged the riders to not only cast their votes but also mobilise their families and communities to support the APC, which he credited with spearheading transformative policies in the state.
“As tricycle operators, you are key stakeholders in Ondo State’s socio-economic structure.
“This is why we must rally behind the APC candidates, who have consistently prioritised policies that support the common man.
“Your votes will ensure the continuation of impactful leadership at the grassroots, which is essential for progress.”
Ogaga further encouraged the association members to sustain their support for the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, describing his leadership as a beacon of hope for the people.
According to him, the governor has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to delivering democracy dividends, including improved infrastructure, enhanced welfare programmes, and youth empowerment initiatives.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa has proven his dedication to the well-being of the people of Ondo State. It is our duty to stand by him and his administration as he strives to deepen developmental efforts across the state,” he added.
On a related note, the Coordinator used the opportunity to remind riders of their responsibility to prioritise safety on the roads.
He admonished them to always drive cautiously, adhere to traffic regulations, and ensure the well-being of their passengers.
“Safety should remain paramount in your operations. You must always remember that you are not only responsible for your own lives but also for those of the passengers who trust you daily to transport them safely,” he advised.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment from tricycle operators to align with the association’s directives, as members pledged to support the APC and ensure peace and order during the elections.
Observers view the Coordinator’s call as a strategic move to galvanise support for the ruling party ahead of the local government polls, which are expected to significantly shape the political landscape of Ondo State.
