NYSC Debunks Alleged Maltreatment of Corps Members in Ondo

by Roving

The National Youths Service Corps, NYSC has described as untrue, the misconceptions and insinuations making the rounds that corps members deployed to Ondo are having an edge over their colleagues dislodged from Lagos State.

The Ondo State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Kuburat Bakare said that she is responsive and responsible to all the 2024 Batch ‘C’ (Stream II) corps members having their orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko, regardless of their status.

Bakare, affirmed that her role as the State Coordinator encompasses the provision of adequate security and enhanced welfare for all corps members serving or passing through the state as a result of NYSC deployment or posting policy.

“I want to thank my children that were dislodged from Lagos State for subtly expressing their minds on what they perceived as unjust and unfair treatment, but I want to let you know that the hitches experienced during registration was beyond our control, as the server was congested because four states namely (Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo and Osun) with independent points were doing registration, and Lagos Secretariat is the only one that generates code number for their corps members in these states which automatically slowed down the registration process”.

She continued, ‘it is only after registration is completed that corps members will be allocated to platoons, where kit items and meal ticket issued to them. You will recall that we provided accommodation to all corps members the moment they arrived camp, this predisposes that members of the service corps remain indivisible under our watch’.

She appealed to corps members, especially those dislodged from Lagos, to desist from feeding their families back home unfounded information about not according them attention in the scheme of things.

The Coordinator expressed in strong terms the youthful exuberance displayed by some corps members going on social media to discredit the operations of the Scheme.

“Gentlemen corps members, I want to let you know that we have nothing to hide, as we are giving our best under the circumstances we found ourselves. We can not suppress your feelings, but we should allow reasoning to prevail and stop distracting us from enhancing our efficient service delivery. We strive daily to give you the best.“ she explained.
