Let Ondo People feel your Presence – Alabi charges Waste Management Workers

by Roving

The Ondo State government has charged workers of the waste management authority to discharge their duties with utmost professionalism and make their presence be felt in their efforts to make the state clean and healthy.

Chairman of the Ondo State Waste Management Authority, Mrs Olayinka Alabi gave charge at a one-day retreat organised for management, supervisors and other stakeholders within the sector, held on Tuesday in Akure, the state capital.

The retreat was organized to appraise performances in the preceding year, celebrate and honour performances, learn contemporary issues as they may relate to waste management and deliberate on targets and focus in the new year.

Guest Lecturers also examined roles of data and statistics for effective performance in waste management for the year 2025.

Addressing participants at the event, Mrs Alabi who commended the Waste Management Workers for their commitment and dedication to work noted that there were more grounds to cover in the efforts of making the state one of the cleanest in the country.

She said, “We recognize the work that you’re doing. And we know that you are an integral part of the waste management authority. There’s nothing we can do basically without you guys and each of the local governments is part of the Ondo State Waste Management Board.

“You must be active to the point that the gaps will be recognized and doing that, I’m very sure, by the time we meet with Mr. Governor, that Mr. Governor, we are having a gap here, we want to fill it, it will be easier because people are already seeing your activities.

“The day I went to my local government to observe the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, I want to let you know that it is not in Akure alone, as a state capital, that we have the issue of waste management.

“In those days, we have dump sites everywhere in localities. But these days, it’s no longer there because everywhere is growing fast.

“So we must make sure that our presence is felt in the local governments and we really believe that you guys are there to do the work for the Waste Management Authority.

“Please make yourself more visible so that when we want to ask for anything on your behalf, we will have a reason to do so.

“I believe that we are in a new year and in a new era. When we go technological, when we advance, I can bet you, ondo state waste management authority will be the better for it.“
