Irate Protesters on Wednesday shut down the Governor’s Office at Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State capital, over alleged killing of another five farmers by armed herdsmen in the last 24hours.
The farmers were shot dead in another invasion by armed herdsmen at Aba Oyinbo, Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
The protesters who blocked All roads linking the Governor’s office also displayed Corpses of the victims killed by the herdsmen.
The farmers were killed early hours of Wednesday by the armed herdsmen who had about a fortnight ago killed about 20 farmers in four farm settlements in the same local government.
Activities at the governor’s office were grounded for hours following the protest.



Roving Reporters has reported that the protest to the governor’s office was the second in the last few weeks following the surge in kidnappings in the state.
Twenty farmers were killed by suspected herdsmen in the same council area last week after they invaded and sacked four communities.
The protesters shut down the governor’s office over the spate of kidnapping and the inability of the security agencies to curtail their activities.
They expressed concern that the criminals were having a field day despite the efforts of the security personnel.
Some farmers have equally barricaded the Akure/Owo highway, protesting the abduction and killings in the council area.
Addressing the protesters the state deputy governor Dr Olayide Adelami who urged the protesters to calm down said the government would act appropriately.
