As a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative under the Tea-Gal Talks business brand, the seventh edition of the Academics, Fashion, Relationship, Outright (A.F.R.O) Conference is dedicated to fostering men’s growth and development, empowering them for a brighter future.

The Convener, Tolulope Adetoke Asa stated this in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Akure ahead of the programme.

The Programme with the theme; ‘PRESS’ will come up on Saturday,March 22 at the T.I Francis auditorium Obanla, FUTA North Gate by 9am.

The Convener noted that this unique conference was specific to the masculine gender and provide a structured model for personal and societal growth and also focused on empowering young men in various aspects of life.

Asa said the Conference covers key areas including; academics, personal branding, emotional intelligence, relationship building, and self-discipline.

She added that people majorly focused on training of the girl-child and always believing that boys would be fine.

“AFRO Conference Provides a platform for attendees to connect with like-minded individuals, mentors, industry experts and also to create a ripple effect by fostering a culture of responsibility, excellence, and positive societal influence,” she said.

She said Pastor Demola Awoyele, Arionla Addo Daniel and Emmanuel Owoyemi among others are expected to be guest speakers at the event.

“The reason this is actually focusing on men is that you cannot be saying you are empowering the ladies and are leaving our men out there without proper orientation. If we are not careful, we may later find ourselves advocating for men to speak up, hone their spaces and use their voices” she added.

Asa said it was important that men have good mentors because the ones being called bad boys too had mentors, so it was right we start exposing them to good mentors now.

She stated that the target audience for the program are males between the ages of 16 and 29, and it will also be live-streamed via YouTube and Instagram on AFRO Conference platform.
