Aiyedatiwa’s Aide, Alabi, announces Ondo Electricity Committee Names

In a move towards ensuring the efficient and sustainable use of electricity across government infrastructure, Johnson Alabi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Power, has officially announced the formation of a new Government Electricity Committee.

The committee is tasked with overseeing the usage of government-paid electricity, ensuring a fair distribution of electricity costs, and promoting sustainable practices.

In a statement on Monday, Engr. Alabi highlighted the committee’s key focus areas, which include:

  1. Mapping Government-Paid Electricity Coverage in the Alagbaka area, as well as for government buildings and residential properties of civil/public servants.
  2. Tracking electricity usage by government officials and monitoring government generator usage.
  3. Ensuring fair allocation and billing of electricity costs, including system verification.
  4. Providing recommendations for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  5. Ensuring periodic reporting and maintaining transparency in all operations.

The committee will also be responsible for advising on any necessary policy revisions related to government-paid electricity, ensuring that the system evolves in line with changing circumstances. Engr. Alabi emphasized that the committee will investigate complaints or grievances related to electricity usage and take necessary actions to ensure compliance with government regulations.

The newly formed committee’s broad mandate includes overseeing the equitable distribution of electricity, mapping usage, tracking costs, ensuring fair billing practices, and making recommendations to reduce costs while ensuring the sustainability of public resources.

Engr. Alabi urged the committee members to work diligently towards achieving the objectives of the committee, ensuring that government-paid electricity is used efficiently, and that the process remains transparent and accountable.
