A 43-year-old man, Oluwole Oguntuase, has reportedly fled his residence in Adebowale Area of Akure South Local Government Area, Ondo State, after being declared wanted by the police over an alleged inappropriate amorous relationship with another man.

Oguntuase was accused of engaging in anal sex with one Chidozie Anika in February 2025, a claim that reportedly came to light after Chidozie fell seriously ill.

According to sources, Chidozie’s family had been moving him from one hospital to another for medical attention without significant improvement.

It was gathered that during the course of his illness, Chidozie allegedly confessed to his brother that he had sexual relations with Oguntuase and that he became sick shortly after the encounter.

His brother subsequently reported the matter to the police on March 18, 2025.

Following the report, the police reportedly invited Oguntuase for questioning, but he allegedly failed to honour the invitation.

When officers proceeded to his residence to effect an arrest, they discovered that he had fled the community, leaving behind his personal belongings.

A competent police source confirmed that Chidozie is currently receiving treatment in a private hospital. The source said the complainant maintained that his brother’s illness followed the alleged sexual encounter.

“The prime suspect, one Oluwole Oguntuase, was reported at our station for allegedly having a bisexual relationship with one Chidozie Anika. It was Chidozie’s brother who came to lodge the complaint.

He said his brother confessed that Oluwole had anal sex with him and that he became ill shortly after with what he described as a strange sickness,” the source said.

He added that the police initially contacted the suspect by phone in a civil manner, but after several unsuccessful attempts to reach or locate him, they visited his residence, only to find it deserted.

“Neighbours said they had not seen him in the last two weeks. His phone line was also switched off. For the law to take its course, we placed him on the wanted list so he can be apprehended wherever he is sighted,” the source added.

The police further revealed allegations that the suspect had a history of engaging in same-sex acts, with claims that several boys had previously been molested by him.

Meanwhile, angered by the development and the reported illness of Chidozie, members of the community allegedly attacked and vandalised Oguntuase’s house.

An attempt to set the building ablaze was, however, prevented by the timely intervention of a police team that arrived at the scene.
