Council Boss Issues Quarantine Order after Thunder killed Cows in Ondo

The Executive Chairman of Ose local government area of ondo state, Hon. Clement Ojo has ordered immediate quarantine of the area where thunder killed cows on Sunday night.

The council chairman who gave the order when he visited the scene on Monday said the measure was to prevent any potential health or environmental risks.

Roving Reporters had reported that No fewer than Six cows were killed on Sunday in Oriohin, along Elegbeka–Ipele Road, in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, after a sudden thunderstrike during rainfall.

Eyewitnesses reported that the thunderstrike occurred during a downpour, killing the cows on the spot, causing panic among nearby residents.

During his visit, Ojo confirmed that the cows died as a result of the thunderstrike, with no signs of disease or infection.

He however cautioned residents of the community against consuming the meat, stressing that it could be dangerous to human health.

“This is clearly a natural disaster, but we must act swiftly to protect our people and maintain public safety,” he said.

The chairman directed veterinary and environmental health officials to immediately dispose of the carcasses and fumigate the area.

Similarly, relevant authorities have been mobilized to enforce the quarantine and monitor the situation closely.

Residents have been urged to steer clear of the affected site and to report any unusual occurrences in the area.
