Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Arogbo Ward 1, Ese-Odo Local Government Area, has announced his resignation from the party.
In a scathing letter, Peretei cited the party leadership’s lack of intention to win elections as the reason for his departure.
Peretei expressed frustration with the party leadership’s self-serving interests, which he believes have crippled the party’s chances of winning elections.
He stated, “Those who claim to be at the leadership of the party have no intention to win any elections, now or in the future.
As a former State Financial Secretary (1999-2003) and current State Publicity Secretary (2020-present), Peretei has contributed significantly to the party.
However, he feels that his efforts have been undermined by the same individuals who have held the party hostage, making it impossible to win elections in the last three election cycles
Peretei advises party members who rely on election funds and patronage to seek alternative means of supporting their families.
He urges them to reconsider their involvement with the party, suggesting they may be living “meaningless lives” as “political bandits” or “Almajaris.”
Peretei’s resignation highlights the internal struggles within the PDP in Ondo State.
His departure may signal a broader discontent among party members and could potentially impact the party’s chances in future elections.
