Leadership of the National Association of Ondo State Students, NAOSS, has alleged plans by some political office holders within the administration of governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to take over or politically hijack the affairs of the association.
Oyelade Hammed, the Global President of the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) made this known on Friday while addressing Newsmen in Akure the state capital.
He however urged governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to intervene and prevent such occurrence as the Union would not compromise on ensuring that students structures remain protected and respected.
Leading other Union leaders to address journalists, Oyelade said, “Over the past few days, we have observed some troubling events involving certain appointees of the state government, whose actions suggest an attempt to meddle in the affairs of our independent student body.
“Let it be known and clearly understood — the leadership of NAOSS under my watch remains peaceful, focused, and unshakably committed to the security, welfare, and interests of every Ondo State student, home and abroad.
“It has become necessary to speak directly to all NAOSSites and the general public: We will not compromise on the sacred mandate bestowed upon us by the students of Ondo State.
“We shall not allow the association to become a tool in the hands of any external force, regardless of their position or influence. With me here are my executive members; Together, we stand united.
“We are not against the government of Ondo State — in fact, we have always supported and appreciated any policy, program, or initiative that promotes students’ growth and development.
“However, we reject, in strong terms, any move to take over or politically hijack the affairs of our association under any guise.
“I wonder — and I believe many students do as well — why any government official or appointee would want to override the democratic structure of NAOSS, an association founded on student solidarity, service, and the spirit of progress.
“We want to categorically state that we have made plans to address this situation legally and appropriately, without disrupting the peace of our state.
“We remain open to dialogue, but we will not tolerate disrespect, intimidation, or manipulation. The interest of NAOSS and its members will always come first.
“We are calling on all well-meaning stakeholders, past leaders of the association, traditional rulers, and the government of Ondo State, led by His Excellency Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to intervene and ensure that student structures remain protected and respected.
“To every Ondo State student out there — stay calm, stay informed, and stay united. Your leadership is working, and we will continue to represent you with integrity and courage.”
