… Describe harassment of house owners including Governor Aiyedatiwa as contempt of court and attempt to short-change judicial process
The Landlords Association of Alagbaka Extension Phase 2, Akure, has strongly condemned members of the Olokunjuwon and Umelu Families for pasting illegal posters on several properties, including the personal residence of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, demanding the regularisation of land purchases.
In an official statement, the Association highlighted that the dispute involving landlords and the families is currently before the Supreme Court under case number SC/CV/1151/2022 (also referenced as CA/AK/105A/2017 and Suit No: AK/173/2012). The case is scheduled for hearing on March 27, 2027.
According to the statement, the matter has been slated for March 27, 2027.
The Association argued that the signatory to the poster on various gates and houses including that of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s personal house, O.V Omotayo and the families were served and they are aware of this fact.
While noting that Ondo State High Court registry is also aware of the fact, the association described pasting of posters demanding regularisation of land purchase as contempt of court and a criminal attempt to short-change the judicial process.
“The stay of execution granted by the state High Court is in respect of the Appeal at Supreme Court in SC/CV/1151/2022 which is still pending in Supreme Court”.
“The stay of execution granted to the Owners and Residents by Justice Adebusoye is still subsisting until the determination of the supreme Court case adjourned to March 2027”.
“It is a global judicial practice that once a matter is before a supreme court, no execution from a lower court can be carried out until the matter is disposed off”.
The Landlords Association therefore advised Landlords and house owners that the matter had not been concluded and and still pending all no one should be embarrassed.
