Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church has addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video that allegedly showed him pointing a firearm at a content creator — a claim he firmly denies.
Speaking during his Sunday sermon, the prominent cleric said he neither owns nor carries a gun, and has never pointed one at anyone. He described the circulating video as the work of “click baiters” trying to profit off sensationalism.
“The enticement of the enemy is always the love of money, and the root of all evil,” Adefarasin said. “What we’ve witnessed is just click baiters looking for more money. I probably wasn’t even their target. The target was to make money.”
He clarified that the incident involved a content creator who came alarmingly close to him — separated only by glass and less than a meter of space — but insisted that no firearm was involved.
“I do not have a pistol license for a firearm. I do not carry a firearm. And I pointed no firearm at anybody,” he said.
Adefarasin noted that he was both shocked and hurt by the accusations, especially as they surfaced during his Sabbath observation.
“Several people called me and sent videos. I was shocked. I was hurt. I am human,” he admitted. “But God is touched by the feeling of our infirmities. And what the enemy means for evil, He works for good.”
Citing Romans 12:19, Adefarasin emphasized his faith in divine justice and said the church does not engage in responding to hate speech or false accusations.
“We believe God is bigger than that,” he concluded. “On that note, I will lay that matter to rest.”
