•••Blasts Gospel Star Over Controversial Criticisms

In a fiery rebuke that has set tongues wagging across Nigeria’s gospel music community, Prophet Israel Nasiri, the Shepherd-in-Charge of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), The Greatest God Chapel, Yakoyo, Ashimolowo Mowe, Ogun State, has declared that the voice of popular gospel singer Tope Alabi is “from the darkness,” despite her gospel label.

Speaking during a recent sermon on his official Facebook page, the outspoken cleric accused Tope Alabi of spiritual insensitivity, pride, and consistent criticism of fellow gospel musicians — a behavior he described as ungodly and divisive.

The prophet was reacting to recent corrections made by veteran gospel musician, Bola Aare on her evergreen song due to the criticism by Tope Alabi.

“We cannot use the flesh to interpret God by carnal means,” Prophet Nasiri warned, referring to Alabi’s public condemnation of certain gospel songs — including Yinka Alaseyori’s “Oniduro Mi” — that stirred controversy in recent years.

He described it as “unfortunate” that gospel legend Bola Aare had to rework some of her timeless songs due to pressure and criticism — much of which he attributed to Tope Alabi’s influence.

He urged Mama Bola Aare not to “fall prey” to those who were not led by the Spirit but were instead “agents of deception.”

According to Prophet Nasiri, Alabi’s pattern of spiritual arrogance has caused confusion and damage within the body of Christ:

“She doesn’t have songs that are generally acceptable. She has success, but she doesn’t have a good name,” he declared.

“She gave someone’s child to another. She destroyed her first husband. She doesn’t belong to any church and has been extorting churches, hijacking them for her gain.”

Nasiri also alleged that Alabi is only invited to “evil churches” and that she attempted to bring down rising star Yinka Alaseyori but was stopped by divine intervention.

In one of the sermon’s most shocking revelations, Nasiri recounted a personal experience from 15 years ago:

“I used to buy gospel cassettes. I bought one of Tope Alabi’s while I was coming from prayer mountain. But God told me not to include her among them. He said her voice, though it sings gospel, is not of the kingdom of God. That cassette almost broke my home.”

He claimed that three years later, news began to surface about Tope Alabi’s alleged misconduct, which confirmed his spiritual concerns and caused his wife to agree with him. Until now, he says they kept this revelation to themselves.

Despite his strong words, the prophet ended with a call for unity:

“Gospel musicians should stop criticizing one another. When you’re praising God, He is unlimited and beyond human imagination. Tope Alabi should focus on her own songs and stop condemning others.”

The statement has sparked intense debate within the Christian and entertainment communities, with many calling for restraint, accountability, and healing within Nigeria’s gospel music industry.

Tope Alabi has yet to respond to these fresh allegations.
