Salt in one hand, N1,100 in the other—Sotitobire Prophet shares divine breakdown for financial turnaround

In an instruction that has stirred public debate and social media chatter, the founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Samuel, has shared a specific breakdown on how church members must use the sum of N1,100 to unlock what he describes as “a God-ordained financial breakthrough.”
The directive, delivered during a Sunday sermon in Akure, required members to wake between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Monday, holding salt in one hand and the N1,100 in the other, while praying fervently for divine favor.
Following the midnight prayers, Prophet Samuel outlined the exact use of the money:
Spend N800 on anything you feel like.
Combine the remaining N300 (N200 + N100) and give it as alms to people in need.
The salt is to be poured into water and used for bathing.
The Prophet stressed that the full amount should not be given away, saying, “If you give them the whole N1,100, you have spoilt the prayer programme.”
He further assured his congregation: “Apply it the way I instructed, and you’ll never struggle again—even when others are complaining about hardship.”
Prophet Samuel was quick to dispel notions of financial gain for the church, insisting: “The money is not for me or the church. I don’t want such peanut in my church.”
This is not the first time the cleric has made headlines for his unconventional spiritual practices. Just last month, he instructed members to bring okro to church for another prayer session, resulting in hundreds arriving with nylon bags of the vegetable.
These unusual prophetic directives continue to polarize opinion, with many questioning the spiritual and theological basis behind them.
Yet, the Sotitobire Praising Chapel maintains a loyal and growing congregation, both in Akure and across parts of Nigeria.
