Democracy Day: Akinsuroju Urges Constituents to defend Democratic Values

by Roving

As Nigeria marks Democracy Day, Hon. Nelson Akinsuroju, Member representing Ileoluji/Okeigbo Constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly, has called on citizens to remain steadfast in upholding the principles of democracy.

In his goodwill message, Akinsuroju commended the resilience and civic spirit of the people of Ileoluji/Okeigbo, noting that democracy thrives only when the people remain actively engaged and committed to its ideals.

“Your voice, your vote, and your participation are the pillars upon which our democracy stands,” he said.

“Today is a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by heroes—known and unknown—who fought for the freedoms we now enjoy. As we honour them, we must also renew our collective commitment to building a more inclusive, just, and accountable society.”

The lawmaker emphasized that democracy is more than a system of governance; it is a daily responsibility that requires the active participation of all citizens through peaceful dialogue, civic engagement, and community development.

He further expressed optimism that with sustained unity and responsible leadership, both the nation and the constituency will continue to flourish in peace and prosperity.

“May our democracy continue to grow stronger, and may Ileoluji/Okeigbo flourish in peace and progress,” Akinsuroju added.

Happy Democracy Day!
