Vows to Strengthen Unity, Deepen Alumni Engagement
In a landmark moment for the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) Alumni Association, Akure Chapter, Comrade (Mrs.) Yinka Ogunleye has been elected as the new Chairperson following a peaceful and consensus-driven election.
The election, held at the Engineer Adedeji Philip Engineering House in Akure, Ondo State, saw all candidates emerge unopposed after key contenders stepped down shortly before the polls. The event was marked by unity and a renewed commitment to alumni growth.
Alongside Ogunleye, other newly elected executive members include:
Engr. Komolafe Bankole – Vice Chairman
Prince Odunayo Ogunlade – Secretary
Agbadola Monisola – Assistant General Secretary
Owolabi Bunmi Johnson – Treasurer
Princess Kemi-Bello – Welfare Director
John Adeyemi-Ologun – Public Relations Officer (PRO)
In her acceptance speech, Ogunleye expressed heartfelt gratitude to members for their trust and support. She pledged to lead with inclusivity and a strong sense of purpose.
“My vision is to build a more vibrant, united, and better-connected alumni network,” she said. “Together, we will foster belonging, encourage professional networking, and champion initiatives that uplift our Alma Mater and our community.”
Outgoing Chairman, Engr. Beremoye Adeoye, warmly congratulated the new Chairperson, describing her emergence as “long overdue.” He commended Ogunleye’s unwavering dedication to the chapter and urged her to uphold the chapter’s legacy of peace and progress.
“You have consistently shown leadership with humility and vision. I have no doubt you will take this chapter to greater heights,” he said.
With Ogunleye at the helm, members of the Akure Chapter look forward to a new era of growth, engagement, and impactful alumni development.
