By Our Correspondent
Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Epinmi Akoko, Ondo State, following a coordinated operation by the Police and local security operatives, which also led to the discovery of a suspected torture pit and a cache of dangerous weapons.
According to a press release issued by the Ondo State Police Command and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the arrests were made in the early hours of June 18 after members of the Epinmi Vigilante Group apprehended one Arohunmolase Idowu, 25, who was found loitering suspiciously around 12:30 am and could not explain his movements.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Isua mobilized a joint security team comprising the Police and operatives from sister agencies. During preliminary interrogation, further intelligence led to the arrest of another suspect, Bada Tosin, 26, also a resident of Epinmi Akoko.

The breakthrough came when the suspects guided officers to a hidden building deep in the bush. A search of the location revealed an alarming stockpile of arms and weaponry, including:
Two locally-made dane guns
Assorted charms
Four cutlasses
Four axes
Other dangerous items
Of particular concern to the authorities was the discovery of a deep pit inside the building, strongly suspected to have served as a holding cell for kidnapped victims.
The suspects and recovered items have since been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation. The police have assured the public that more updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station. For inquiries, the Command can be reached via telephone on 07032358284 or on its social media handles:
